There is nothing good or bad. Only thinking makes it so.
–Hamlet

I have no balance in my life.

I know this job isn’t for me, but I can’t seem to make a change.

Things just haven’t turned out the way I thought they would.

My boss, my kids, my spouse…no one appreciates what I do.

Why is it so hard for me to stick to my goals?

These are just some of the things I hear clients say all the time. Indeed, most of us spend a great deal of time during any typical day focusing on what’s wrong with our families, our careers or our relationships. And we’re not even aware that we’re doing it!

There are dozens of personality assessments that can tell us what we’re good at…are we extroverts or introverts? Do we like to manage or be managed? Until now, there has never been an attitudinal assessment, a test that measures how we view ourselves and how we see the world around us. I am certified to administer the only assessment of its kind…the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) that holds up a mirror to your perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors and tells you how likely you are to reach your personal and professional goals so that you can finally feel productive, accomplished and fulfilled.

Recently a client came to me because with her kids in school full time, she wanted to go back to work. She had been talking about re-launching her career, but she claimed that she just couldn’t find the time, she no longer had the skills or contacts she needed, the economy was bad, her husband needed her at home…and the list went on. Because these negative thoughts had been habituated by years of thinking and feeling the same way over and over, she wasn’t aware just how much time and energy these negative thoughts required.

Then she completed the assessment, which objectively quantified how much energy she expended thinking in ways that maintained the status quo! When she understood what her typical reactions to stress were and how they were holding her back, we were able to work together to shift her energy so that her thoughts could motivate her rather than paralyze her. Today, she loves her job; she feels better about her relationships, and she ‘s more fun to be around!

Whether stuck in a job or in a pattern of communication, our success in accomplishing our goals depends on how much positive energy we can muster to motivate ourselves and others to take action. Getting our kids to do their homework, asking for a promotion, negotiating the purchase of a car or developing meaningful relationships are all impacted by how we “show up” every day.

The first step is to realize just how much and what kind of energy …positive or negative…we live with every day and how it is affecting our ability to accomplish our goals…and what we can do about it!

The Energy Leadership Assessment costs $197 and is an online 20 minute questionnaire and hour long one on one coaching session with me. It helps you identify what you are broadcasting to yourself and to the world …whether you want to or not… and how that’s impacting your ability to improve in the most important parts of your life.

We may not be able to change some fundamentals about ourselves…like whether we are good at numbers or not, but we are ALL capable of changing our attitude! Start that process of change with the Energy Leadership Assessment.
